The International Monitory Fund (IMF) has expressed concerns about the economic challenges in Ghana raising the red flag, especially over rising oil imports without corresponding increases in fuel prices domestically. An IMF mission is currently on a working visit to Ghana meeting all the top managers of Ghana’s economy including the Finance Minister, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and President J.E.A Mills. The IMF Mission led by Christina Daseking expressed concerns about the high cost of living and continuous depreciation of the Ghana Cedi against the US dollar. The IMF is now asking government to be swift in arresting the situation. “Price of oil import is risen a lot and the domestic price, however, has not been adjusted,” Daseking pointed out at a meeting with President Mills on Tuesday. “This is now creating cost of about GhC60 million every month.” She added: “ Certainly, we want more people to support social programmes. Mrs Doreen Owusu-Fianko, Managing Director of  Ghana Airport Company Limited Senior Meteorologist at the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA), Muller Tsatsu Siameh has accused the Ghana Airport Company (GAC) for sitting on their allowances due them. According to him, staff of the GMA at the Kotoka International Airport are being faced with a myriad of challenges such as accommodation, lack of equipment needed to monitor the weather, transportation among others due to the refusal of the GAC to pay them their monies. He said, if the GAC fails to address the problem, staff of the GMA would have no option than to advise themselves and sit back. Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Abuakwa South , Samuel Atta Akyea has called for a legislature that will prevent individuals, including public office holders from buying state property. According to him, a legislative instrument banning the National Lands Commission from offering state lands for sale to the public is the only way of preventing matters such as the law suit against NPP Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, from reoccurring. The NPP Chairman was sued by Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Deputy Sports Minister, Dr Omane Boamah  for allegedly attempting to buy a government bungalow he occupied as a Minister of Tourism. Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings yesterday drew the battle lines with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). The former president who has for some time now had a strained relationship with some members of the ruling government, called them traitors when he was delivering a speech at the 30th anniversary of the 31st December Women's Movement in Accra. According to him, the NDC has lost its enviable sense of political morality and moral high-ground.
