The Dodi Princess which was specially designed for outdoor
entertainment, while cruising on the lake and touring the surrounding
islands, saw major refurbishment and maintenance work last year.
On a visit to the remains of the vessel by press men and the Eastern
Regional Minister, Mr Victor Smith, VRA security officials said the fire
might have started from the kitchen in the vessel’s
restaurant as
they saw smoke coming from a window there, after kitchen staff served food to
diners and prepared the place for the weekend’s
cruise.
Nobody was on board at the time the vessel caught fire but observers believed
moveable items destroyed could be worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Fire Service says it cannot establish the
cause of the fire
could immediately unless proper investigations were undertaken.
