"RAWLINGS IS UNDER A SPELL" -NDC COMMUNICATIONS MEMBER
Former President Rawlings is under some kind of spell, this
is according to a member of the NDC communications team, Alhaji Halidu Haruna.
According to him, the ex-president has one several platforms
contradicted himself which in his opinion is an indication that the former
president “is not in the natural.”
Alhaji Haruna thus told Bismark Brown of Breakfast TV and
the viewing public, especially NDC supporters to pray for Mr Rawlings.
He said, “Listening to Jerry Rawlings and knowing him the
way he was in the past, there is a bit of difference and I have come to the
conclusion that every NDC member, those of us who pray five times a day we
should pray for Jerry Rawlings and those who go to church should also pray.”
“I believe that the man is not doing this out of... if I
should say natural; that he doesn’t know exactly what he is doing. I suspect
that he is under some kind of spell. That is my suspicion,” he added.
Surprised by Alhaji Haruna’s utterance, Bismark sought to
find out under which circumstances he was basing his conclusion on and who was
responsible for the spell which he claimed had been cast on the former
president.
Bismark asked, “From whom and by whom?”
“Who did he go to endorse?” he questioned.
“His wife of course!” Bismark interjected.
“So? That is my suspicion,” he indicated.
“That you suspect that Nana Konadu has cast a spell on Mr
Rawlings?” Bismark Brown further asked.
“I am saying that that is what I believe in”
“Are you suggesting that Mr Rawlings doesn’t have a mind of
his own today? Mr Rawlings has spoken his mind ever since but today he doesn’t have
the ...”
Alhaji Haruna quickly supported his claim with occurrences in
the Bible and Quaran and present day life where Jesus, the Prophet Mohammed and
men of God were spiritually attacked.
He explained that, “Even men of God witches have succeeded
in attacking them. Not to talk of Jerry Rawlings. Prophets that God sent,
Prophet Mohammed was attacked by witches.”
Bismark Brown who still expressed shock at Alhaji Haruna’s
comments said, “I hope you are not calling anybody a witch.”
Alhaji Haruna further explained that, “I am saying that if
it has happened to men of God Jerry Rawlings is not and cannot exonerate
himself. Even if men of God who are spiritually inclined suffered this kind of
situation, this should tell us human beings that we must be spiritually strong.”
“The man says that the NDC is afraid to go into opposition
and he says that the fear is based on the fact that the NDC people are afraid
of injustice. The same person said the NDC government is corrupt. So somebody
who is corrupt denied the good people of this country monies that were supposed
to be used for developmental activities, goes into opposition and another
government decides to take the matter up and punish them, is this
injustice. If I commit a crime and the
state decides to punish me is it injustice? So do you see the confusion?”
Alhaji Haruna based his argument on the recent
pronouncements of the former President who had endorsed President Mahama in Ho
and his recent stance that the NDC lacked integrity, thus his support for the
NDP of which his wife is the flagbearer.
“Have you ever seen somebody who upheld the principles of
integrity play political “maradona”? You endorse a different party and say that
you will not leave a party which you disagree with. Don’t you see confusion?
“I am not saying that Rawlings doesn’t have integrity. But I’m
saying that he’s been blindfolded and that’s why.”
Alhaji Haruna further asserted that the former president was
under witchcraft attacks, noting that, “I am certain by that and I am not ready
to weaver from that.”
Bismark Brown who was still at this point overwhelmed by
Alhaji Haruna’s statements asked, “At what stage did you realise that the spell
was working?”
He answered: “At the stage where logic doesn’t work any longer,
at the stage where principle doesn’t work any longer, at the stage where people
think that after even 19 years we are still not satisfied and we believe that
we are the only people or group of people that should be leading this country. That
is the stage where I have come to actually understand that no, something is
wrong somewhere.”
Making reference to the meeting that Jerry John Rawlings had
with the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akuffo Addo, Alhaji Haruna noted that, “You
think Jerry Rawlings as we know him in this country would have engaged in these
things just like that? Jerry is a smart person and I am telling you that
something is wrong and
I don’t believe that Jerry is doing it with his clean
eyes. That is my belief and that is my suspicion.”
