A 55-year old man claiming to be the first born son of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, has surfaced.

According to an online news website, citifmonline.com, Dr Onsy Anwar Nathan Kwame Nkrumah claims he was born on March 17, 1957; 10 days after Ghana attained independence.

According to Dr Onsy Nkrumah, he was born to an Egyptian mother by name Isis Nashid who was then dating Dr Kwame Nkrumah before he got married to Fathia.

He said he has been in and out of Ghana for the past 30 years and has now “decided to settle here.”

According to citifmonline.com, Dr Onsy Nkrumah was “unveiled” at a ceremony in Accra where several members of the family had come from Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s hometown to praise him for renovatinf and refurbishing the family house which had been in a deplorable state for years.

However, the online news website reported that all known children of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Gamel, Samia, Sekuo and Francis were absent at the “unveiling” ceremony and when asked why his siblings were absent, Dr Onsy Nkrumah had this to say: “well, you know that we’re from different mothers so we all somehow lead separate lives which is unfortunate, but that’s how it is… but we know ourselves, they know me, I know them. We relate by phone sometimes, e-mail with some of them like Gamel, I see him each time I pass through Egypt and I see him more than the siblings.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah has denied knowledge of his “brother” on a social media network – Facebook.

In reaction to a post on the topic, Sekou said: “A free history lesson, Nkrumah married Fathia on 31st December 1957, their first son Gamel was born on the 18th of March 1959. Samia on 23 June 1960, and Sekou 1 December 1963.”

Is there any resemblance between Dr Onsy Nkrumah and Dr Kwame Nkrumah's children?
