Prophet One Touch invokes God's anger amidst tears

Prophet Nana Kofi Yirenkyi alias Jesus One Touch has invoked God’s punishments on him if he ever lied about having any sexual intercourse with his daughter.

In tears, the prophet said, “God should punish me if I’m lying. How can I do this evil? What do I want from this world? I know nothing about it.”

For more than two minutes, Prophet One Touch who was speaking on e.tv Ghana’s morning show, Awake, poured his heart out in tears and pronounced, “Serving God is difficult but I thank God for vindicating me.”

Prophet One Touch was given a 10-year jail sentence by an Accra Circuit Court after he was found guilty of defiling his ten-year old daughter. However, after an appeal, he was set free by the court.

Although there had been two medical examinations on the girl who was allegedly defiled, none of them correlated; one medical examination disproved the possibility of defilement, while the other suggested a possible sexual exploitation.

Recounting the events which led to his detainment and later imprisonment, Prophet One Touch said he believes he was framed.

According to him, his security man (whose name was given as Efo) had been harassing his daughter for some time.

He explained that one on such events, his wife reported to him that the security man had fondled with his daughter’s buttocks and he apologized when he was questioned about his action.

However, he further went on to say that he caught his security man with his daughter on another occasion and that was when he confessed to have inserted his fingers into the girl’s genitals.

At that point, he said he sent the girl to be with her mother and together with the security man reported the case to the Odorkor police.

He further explained that, “when I got there with the watchman, the police started speaking Ewe with him because they found out that he was Ewe. I didn’t understand what they were saying.”

“Later I called my daughter’s mother to find out if she had reported what had happened to her which she consented.”

Prophet One Touch said four months later he was called to report to the Odorkor Police Station and that was when he was accused for the act. By then, he noted, the security man had been released by the police and was nowhere to be found.

“I was surprised when my own daughter accused me. I can’t say if it was a plot. However, God being so good I have been released and this is a manifestation that I knew nothing about the allegations leveled against me,” he said.

Life in prison

Narrating his ordeal in prison, Prophet One Touch described the condition as being in hell.

“I say hell because being in the prison is like being buried alive especially when you are innocent.”

“All that you do is to wake up in the morning, pray, eat and get back to your cell. For a year I was on remand and you can imagine what it was like.

“I remember one time when I was in the Ministry’s police cells, one of the cell mates who claimed to be the cell leader placed hot banku with tilapia on my back to eat. It was hell.”

He said, even in prison, he did not fail to connect with his God since he believes God works in mysterious ways.

Prophet One Touch also revealed that, at a point in time he felt like committing suicide but after remembering what happened to Daniel in the lion’s den, Jesus, Joseph, Paul and Silas and other men of old in the Bible, he did not give up hope but prayed diligently with the hope that “God will deliver me”.

“I started preaching throughout in the yard and even set a prayer group called the storm is over prayer group.”

He said the occasional visit by his wife, church members and pastor friends was enough encouragement for him that he would soon be set free.

Life after prison

After his release a forth night ago, Prophet One Touch said he was welcomed by a larger congregation than he left behind before he was imprisoned.

According to him, he can’t have a strained relationship with his daughter since as a Christian he has done the right thing to forgive her.

“I still love my daughter. However, I can’t tell if her mother had an involvement in this. On Sunday I went to church. There were so many people there and I believe as usual, God performed a miracle in someone’s life,” he narrated.

Prophet One Touch said he would still continue doing God’s work.

Legal issues

Meanwhile, some legal rights activities have slammed the court for ordering the release of Prophet One Touch.

That notwithstanding, the prophet says “I’ve heard all what’s going around about my release. I have no issues with them because I believe they are also doing their job.”

According to him, cases of defilement and rape were not thoroughly investigated and that has led to a number of innocent people being sentenced for crimes they did not commit.

“My appeal to investigators is to thoroughly investigate such cases before judgments are pronounced because being in a prison is not easy. People are suffering at the prisons. Innocent people are suffering,” he said.

Word of advice

In recent times, some pastors have found themselves in the grips of the law for allegedly raping or defiling women and children who visit them for prayers and counseling.

In his advice to men of God, Prophet One Touch said “let us revere the name of God and act appropriately in our day to day activities.”

“There are indeed fake pastors but I believe their time will come since the Bible says we should not judge,” he added.
